No details came with this Fuck For Forest naked protester photo from Tumblr, but Fuck For Forest is an actual thing:
Naked Protesters now has a newsletter! Nothing spammy or not work-safe, no pictures at all, just text and links on an irregular schedule (no more than four times a year) to keep you up to date on our rare and irregular posts. We handle your email with the same care as we do the emails you use to comment: they get used for nothing else and shared with nobody.

This is a detail from a 2013 photo in Nona Faustine’s “White Shoes” series. The photo is captioned From Her Body Sprang Their Greatest Wealth. This blog post offers commentary and the explanation that Faustine “posed nude at former New York City slave trading sites” in order to “call attention to that history and its enduring legacy.”
From Twitter. This was at a protest in late 2014 about online censorship of kinky porn in Britain:
This is more likely to be from porn than real life, but it’s cute and it ought to work:
From ErosBlog, this news of a bunch of strippers who get fed up with constant harassment from a local church:
I am delighted and tickled by the news out of Warsaw, Ohio, where for NINE LONG YEARS a strip club called the Foxhole North has been the subject of an ugly series of protests and harassments by a local church congregation. Fed up, the club’s owner and employees have finally decided to turn the tables, and have started picketing the church responsible during its Sunday morning services. And of course some of the dancers are picketing the church while topless…

Via Feeling Is First comes this vintage advertisement featuring a notional protest in lingerie for the freedom to run around in lingerie:
“To run in the wind, little sister. To wear only your second nature. That is the freedom of Berlei…the new name of liberty!”
All I know about this picture is the caption where I found it: “Zoe West being arrested in Times Square for a nude art performance.” I’d argue that naked performance art in a public place where it’s not allowed is *always* an act of protest…
Here’s a technique of non-violent resistance that I think could combine quite handily with the tactics of naked protesters:
Supposedly, this photo dates from 1922 Chicago and presents the arrest of women at the beach whose demonstrative crime was to wear one-piece bathing suits that bared and exposed their legs. It’s Naked Protesters material because the scene is clearly a media circus; it seems at least possible that the ladies in question were flouting the contemporary sartorial regulations with intent to protest them and make a scene.
However, the explanation opens with “supposedly” because this picture is all over the internet under similar captions, none of which offer an authoritative source of the captioning information. The most commonly cited modern appearance of this photo is a Reddit thread from October 2011 with the caption “Women in Chicago being arrested for wearing one piece bathing suits, without the required leg coverings. 1922.” Most other web appearances cite the Reddit thread or lightly rephrase the Reddit caption, but the photo can also be found on a other websites with similar captions dated to the few months prior to the Reddit thread. Not found were any older appearances on the web, nor any authoritative sources for the photo that might be used to confirm the many similar captions.
This is from a student protest in Hungary after narrow-minded administrators tried to make the students dress more conservatively:
Students at a university in Hungary have turned up to class in only their underwear, in protest at conservative new clothing rules banning miniskirts, flip-flops and low cut dresses.
Around 10 students and a professor at Kaposvar University in southwest Hungary attended classes on Thursday clad only in pants, or, in some cases, nothing more than strategically placed textbooks, in protest at the draconian new rules.
The naked protest is in response to a letter written by the university’s rector to students imposing a conservative dress code, meaning dark suits and shoes for men, and jackets, blouses and trousers or long skirts for women.
“From October 1, there is also no place in the university for mini-skirts, flip-flops, heavy make-up, inappropriate fashion accessories, or unkempt fingernails and hair,” the letter read.
At an anti-prostitution rally, FEMEN activists pretend to be setting themselves up for a topless self-immolation. Considering that they subsequently light up some cans of hair spray without themselves vanishing in an agonized ball of fire, I think we can safely assume the gasoline can does not actually contain gasoline:
It’s been hard not to make Naked Protesters an all-FEMEN, all-the-time show since FEMEN appeared topless on the world stage…
Street artist ADW attempted to install this piece at a Kings of Concrete event in Dublin, but it so offended the local cops they made him paint it over before it was done. It’s about “the increasing militarisation of these forces employed to uphold the law” and was inspired by “the worldwide Occupy movements and the savage handling of the protesters”:
Via Spanking Blog.
Here at Naked Protesters we are really troubled by the power implications of this story — I did not realize that we still live in a world that lets bishops demand (and get) criminal charges for mocking the pope:
Carnegie Mellon University’s review of two students’ public nudity at an on-campus parade last month came to this conclusion Friday by the university president: Students have the right to express controversial views, but not to break the law.
In a letter sent to the university community, President Jared L. Cohon wrote that campus police had filed misdemeanor charges for indecent exposure against two students, identified in court records as Katherine B. O’Connor, 19, and Robb S. Godshaw, 22.
…
The parade, a College of Fine Arts tradition known as the “Annual Anti-Gravity Downhill Derby,” took place April 18 on the area of CMU’s campus known as the “cut” as part of the university’s spring carnival. That afternoon, campus police were notified that a naked woman was on campus, according to the criminal complaint.
The woman, later identified as Ms. O’Connor, was wearing a pope costume, but had no clothing below her waist, and on her pubic area was the shape of a cross.
…
The nudity incidents, noted by campus police on the day of the event, became more high profile after Pittsburgh Bishop David A. Zubik expressed concern about Ms. O’Connor’s display, saying it was offensive. CMU officials investigated following Bishop Zubik’s complaint, and on May 1, Mr. Cohon wrote a letter to the community apologizing to those who were offended.
The decision today, to file charges, was greeted positively by Catholic officials.
Bishop Zubik, in a statement Friday, acknowledged that CMU “has taken the time to treat this unfortunate incident in a serious manner.
“Once again, and as I have said over these last few weeks, this is an opportunity for all of us to be reminded that freedom of speech and freedom of expression do not constitute a freedom to dismiss or disrespect the beauty of anyone’s race, the sacredness of anyone’s religious belief or the uniqueness of anyone’s nationality.”
First of all, Bishop Zubik is an idiot and an asshole. Freedom of speech does indeed mean precisely the freedom to disrespect the sacredness of religious belief! And he’s an educated man, so he knows that — which makes him a lying idiot and asshole, to boot.
Just to be clear, let’s recaps the sequence of events, shall we?
In 21st-century America, can you believe it?
Progress comes to Naked Protesters. Slowly, but it comes. Grabbed the @NakedProtesters twitter account years ago, but didn’t really know what to do with it. Still don’t, not in the proper twitter spirit of short frequent communications, which don’t happen here — but a few days ago I did tart up the twitter page with Lady Godiva background art and an avatar cribbed from this book cover (which we first saw back in 2005):
There’s also now a loyal software robot who is supposed to automagically send out a tweet every time there’s a new post here. Trumpets may or may not play when that happens. Probably not:
Although naked protesters often seem like a modern phenomenon, they are not just a product of the hippie 1960s. One chilly example comes from the Doukhobor splinter sect in Canada known as the Freedomites (also also called Svobodniki or Sons of Freedom). Originally refugees from religious persecution in czarist Russia, the Doukhobors settled in Canada in the late 1800s and lived somewhat communally, but they differed among themselves as to how much communalism was appropriate. Inspired by Tolstoy, who wrote from Russia that whether it was defended by the state or the individual, private property went hand in hand with violence, the Freedomite contingent renounced all property, which they attempted to symbolize by marching nude. On one such occasion in the winter of 1903,
The Freedomites decided to demonstrate their beliefs to the other Doukhobors and stripped naked, as free from possessions as Adam and Eve, and marched through the villages. They ate leaves and grass like their animal brothers and begged others to follow them.
This being Canada in winter, it was chilly:
Thus it seemed a miracle when they did not freeze to death:
There were fifty-two of the marchers when they ran into Peter Verigin who was driving his carriage. The Freedomites demanded that Verigin free his horse. Peter the Lordly refused. The Freedomites, of course, thought he meant the opposite so they unharnessed the animal and set it loose. They marched on down the road while Verigin sent word to the next village to stop them. There the naked marchers were whipped with willow switches until their legs bled. Women and children were removed from the march but the men continued on.
That night, as the temperature dropped, the Freedomite men huddled together for warmth. Other Doukhobors, clad in sheepskin coats, gathered around and embraced them to keep the men from freezing. The next morning, when no one was found frozen, a miracle was proclaimed and the Freedomites marched on.
The Mounties had been tracking the progress of the march. The Freedomites were left alone while on the Doukhobor lands but as they approached Yorkton, the marchers were stopped. A crowd of about a hundred people swarmed out of Yorkton and forcibly clothed the Freedomites. The Doukhobors who were used to the communal nudity of the steam baths were surprised by the prudish reaction of the townspeople, but it was something they did not forget.
This protest isn’t nude (although they used the favorite “bodysuit in a fleshy color” dodge to attract the eye from a distance) but the elements of public display in a London shop window brings this into the Naked Protester realm-of-interest, as does the acceptance by our brave model-activist of public humiliation to promote her cause:
Her cause, it turns out, is the use of animals in cosmetic testing, and the pictures were taken about a year ago at a Regent Street shop window as part of an awareness campaign by the Humane Society International.
According to The Mirror, in April 2012 a woman
…was restrained, force-fed and injected with cosmetics in a high street shop window as part of a hard-hitting protest against animal testing. The 24-year-old endured 10 hours of experiments, which included having her hair shaved and irritants squirted in her eyes. Jacqueline appeared genuinely terrified as she was pinned down on a bench and had her mouth stretched open with two metal hooks while a man in a white coat force-fed her until she choked and gagged. The artist was also injected with numerous needles, had her skin braised and lotions and creams smeared across her face. Passers-by were gobsmacked to see Jacqueline, a social sculpture student at Oxford Brookes University, forced to have a section of her head shaved. The gruesome spectacle aimed to highlight the cruelty inflicted on animals during cosmetic laboratory tests and raise awareness that animal testing is still a common practise.
Normally I’d draw the line between naked protest and naked property destruction, but given the role the Russian Orthodox church has played in the persecution of Pussy Riot, I can’t really fault the brave girls of FEMEN for cutting down a huge crucifix in Kiev:
Pictures from FEMEN.
We are looking at Brazilian author Vanessa de Oliveira, who stripped outside a government building in Lima to protest ebook piracy in Peru, saying:
“I’m doing this so my book is not pirated anymore anywhere in the world. A country is built with culture, with books. Pirating books endangers culture. This is the first country where I’ve see this phenomenon. In Brazil, there are no pirated books. What I’m seeing here is a disgrace.”
Sorry, Vanessa. What I’m seeing is no disgrace!

This comes out of one of the slutwalk protests in Toronto, via Bondage Blog:
From a 1970s photograph by Allan Tannenbaum, this is stripper Candy Love being arrested “for going topless in front of City Hall in a one-person protest” in New York City:
There’s no word on the message behind Candy’s naked protest.
From deep in the past via Spanking Blog comes this 1935 newspaper article documenting the unwilling public nudity and humiliation of twenty women strike breakers (scabs) in Dallas Texas, who were seized, stripped, and spanked by a hundred union women:
This photo is all over the web, but it’s always described as “Dykes on Bikes, San Francisco, 1980s.” So that’s what we know:
From here: The woman (or “Tahrir girl” as she was called in the Egyptian media)
made headlines around local and international media after she was caught on video being brutally beaten by soldiers, who stripped open her dress, revealing her bra.
From Cryptome:
Naked Israeli women pose for a photograph in Tel Aviv, November 19, 2011, to show solidarity with Egyptian blogger Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, who put naked pictures of herself on the Internet, support free expression and protest against Islamic extremism. The banner reads: “Love With No Boundaries”.
FEMEN took one of their protests to the chilly winter streets and rooftops of Moscow:
Pictures from here.
Way back in 2009, Facebook was already in hot water for prudishly censoring pictures of mothers feeding their children:
It’s Milky Boobs That Threaten The World’s Teens
Well, they’re still doing it. Only now, outraged breastfeeding mothers have taken their breasts even more public, staging public breast-feeding protest events in front of FaceBook offices around the world:
Breastfeeding Women Protest Outside Facebook Offices
She and other women have organized “nurse-ins” around the world, the goal of which is to have as many women as possible breastfeed outside their nearest Facebook office. The first protests were scheduled for today, but there are even more scheduled for later this week. At the time of writing, there were albums created for six cities where protests have already taken place: Menlo Park, Detroit, Toronto, New York, and Amsterdam, and Dallas.
There’s nobody we love (here at Naked Protesters) more than the beautiful, ferocious, and utterly fearless (not to mention, impervious to cold) ladies of FEMEN. Apparently they gave my man Fareed and his moneyed cronies one hell of a naked jeering at the international “gangster party” for billionaires in Davos, Switzerland the other day:
Crowd control fences are for peasants, they don’t even slow these ladies down! Don’t pay any mind to the police sniper on the rooftop at upper left, girls…
One thing a good naked protest can always be relied upon to do: piss off the cops. And this cop is definitely pissed off:
Sadly, angry police tend to get aggressive:
Thanks to Violet Blue for the tip about this protest. The actual pics come from FEMEN’s LiveJournal.
Naked protest against troops in Afghanistan:
A naked woman stopped traffic near the Houses of Parliament yesterday, by clambering on to a black cab for a five-minute ‘yoga protest’. She yelled ‘Troops out of Afghanistan’, as the cabbie tried to shift her and tourists looked on. Police finally managed to move the woman.
A protest outside a facility of The Assam Rifles (a military unit) in India. Sadly the photo has been blurred and it came without any details on the protest itself, although it’s pretty clearly the same event (or at least, the same event location) as seen here.
Not naked, but deliberately humiliated:
Apparently this was an official parade of humiliation, in China:
As part of a two-month crackdown on vice in the booming city of Shenzhen, public security officers handcuffed about 100 women and some of their male customers, dressed them in bright yellow prison tunics and hauled them through the streets.
This is from a Spanish naked-cycling rally about five years ago:
From here:
Madrid has celebrated the 4th Nude cyclist rally under the slogan ‘We continue to be naked in traffic’.
The route was through the central streets of the capital. The protests are designed to show how invisible cyclists are to motorists…
Boing Boing says this photo is from a demonstration “to promote vegetarianism” in Barcelona Spain on December 15, 2011. Does it work, or does she look tastier than the “brussel sprouts” giant cabbages?

Apparently a gentleman’s club in Denver tried to cash in on the Occupy! protests with this poster featuring not-naked-enough dancers claiming to be the 69 percent:
If only we could make out more of the protest sign this woman is standing in front of. Sadly, this picture came in without any context.
This gagged protesting woman’s photograph dates from last December’s protest over the arrest of Julian Assange:
Caption here states “A gagged demonstrator holds placards during a protest over the arrest of the WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, outside the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London, on December 7, 2010.”
This is from a Youtube video (below) captioned: “Artistic director of dance theater group Kandake, Olga El, exposes her nakedness, an artistic expression to relay frustration over Christopher Columbus Day during the Occupy Wall Street protests on Monday October 10th.”
The images keep trickling in from the naked protests at Occupy Wall Street:
From The Ogliarch Kings, who say: “There were even echoes of the glory days of the late 60’s with a short lived but entertaining topless demonstration.”
This is obviously one of the lovely ladies of FEMEN, and apparently she’s protesting in Kiev for the right to winter heating. Yes, that’s snow on the grass behind her:
If I’ve run my Google translates correctly, this picture is from a 2009 student protest in Brazil, where folks turned out (naked, of course!) in support of a woman expelled for wearing a mini-dress:
More pictures here.
This is said to be a labor protest of sorts — the nude “life” models of Paris taking to the streets back in 2008 to demand “a pay increase, proper contracts and…respect for their craft.”
Just a link, because people pretending to be dead don’t fit the visual standards to which this website aspires:
The detailed context of this protest is somewhat unclear from the link, but we know these are Yoruba women protesting on April 29, 2009 in Ekiti:
Here’s Anonymous, protesting against Scientolog-jism. It’s a little raunchy, so just a link. And a back-up link, since Tumblr links don’t always last so long.
I’ve been neglecting Naked Protesters, but this latest Femen action out of the Ukraine is too nice to ignore. I believe the girls (who were also responsible for an awesome spank-in not so long ago in protest against academic corruption) may have been welcoming U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on a state visit. Update: Original image source is the Femen LiveJournal.
You have to know that a blog post entitled PETA, Lady Godiva, And Feminism is going to be relevant to our interests here at Naked Protesters. And this one does not disappoint:
[C]riticism of PETA’s nude ads on feminist grounds strikes me as deeply misguided.
What’s wonderful about these ads is that they present the nude woman as being more virtuous than her clothed audience, and make her naked body symbolic of her virtue. She’s on the right side of the issue, acting as a moral examplar through her nudity, and guiding us to become more virtuous people. I think the reason PETA does this is to make vegetarianism and animal welfare in general look less like hair-shirted ascetic doctrines, and more glamorous and fun. … That she’s posing nude for animal welfare doesn’t make her an object, it makes her a better human being than you.
There’s not a lot of information about this naked protest at the site where I found the photo:
The Hebrew is said to say “I have sex with Palestinian women” but that’s not something I can confirm for myself.
From Sex and Blogs, with this caption: “100 firemen wearing only boots and helmets to request better salaries, schedules and more training, in A Coruña, Northern Spain.”
You don’t hear about this sort of thing every day:
In Israel the dispute continues over how to interpret its Festival of Matzot (Prohibition of Leaven) Law, 5746-1986, (also known as the “Hametz Law”). Last year, a court held that its ban on the public display of any leavened product for sale or consumption during Passover did not prevent the sale in a closed place of business of leavened products. The Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) community is still distressed over the ruling. This week, according to Arutz Sheva, to protest the interpretation, yeshiva student Aryeh Yerushalmi entered a Tel Aviv grocery store, went to the bread section, and stripped naked (except for a sock over his private parts). He says Israeli law bans performing an indecent act in a public place, but if a grocery store is not “public” for purposes of the Hametz Law, it should not be for the indecent exposure law either.
As has become traditional here at Naked Protesters, we can’t resist publishing images of our patroness, Lady Godiva. This one is from a vintage postcard:
Remember last year’s naked and pregnant protest against something to do with hog raising? Well, Peta Europe has done it again:
Thanks to Alexia at PETA for sending me the link.
Remember this grainy old newspaper photo of British cops spanking a Viet Nam war protester? Well, there’s a much better copy of the image at Kinky Delight, of which this here is a radically cropped and reduced version:
This guy is having the time of his life mooning the camera in front of a cop car:
Then … ooops!
Busted.
I don’t know how I missed this last year when it happened:
You’re looking at a Spencer Tunick / Greenpeace collaboration, described here:
Artist Spencer Tunick and Greenpeace present a living sculpture: hundreds naked volunteers symbolise the vulnerability of the glaciers under climate change.
Well, his butt is naked, and he’s protesting, so I guess this is close enough to naked protest. Although, to be fair, I think he’s protesting getting spanked:
This cute political cartoon found here at Spanking Blog.
Here’s a French version of the “I’d rather go naked” poster campaign, this one featuring Eva Angéli:
A reader send these photos to me, identifying them as coming from the 2008 Dyke March in Toronto:
Anti war protester figures duct tape is better than clothing, for getting on TV:
…or at least, piss them off. That seems to be this woman’s plan:
Of course, this picture came to me without any attribution, so it could be from a movie or a spoof. There’s also no reason to suspect (beyond the presence of riot police, which is suggestive but hardly probative) that there’s any protest context to the picture.
You’ve got to admire this kind of courage:
An Israeli tourist who felt harassed when New Zealand road workers whistled at her Thursday stripped naked in response, police said.
Workmen in the small northern farming town of Kerikeri were repairing the main street when the young woman took offense at their attention.
On a balmy late-autumn day, she calmly stripped bare to use an ATM – bringing an abrupt halt to both the whistles and the road work – then put her clothes back on and walked away.
Sgt. Peter Masters said the woman told police she didn’t take kindly to the men’s wolf-whistles.
“She said she had thought ‘… I’ll show them what I’ve got,’ as the men whistled at her,” he said.
“She gave the explanation that she had been pestered by New Zealand men. She’s not an unattractive-looking lady,” he said.
Police treated the incident as a one-off.
“She was taken back to the police station and spoken to and told that was inappropriate (behavior) in New Zealand,” he added.
The woman was due to leave New Zealand later Thursday.
The signs tell you as much as we know:
If you’ve ever run any sort of adult-oriented internet site that’s open to comment, you’ll be familiar with a certain sort of Beavis-and-Butthead trollery, typified by short, crude comments like the title of this post. It’s reactive to the material (usually pictures) being commented on, but it’s usually leering, crude, and brief to the point of being sub-literate.
Needless to say, Naked Protesters attracts a lot of that sort of commentary, but it almost always gets caught in moderation and silently deleted with the penis pill spam.
Today, however, the Naked Protesters moderation queue contained an astonishingly focused burst of this raw troll energy. A man going by the handle of DudeWithPants, and offering a fake URL suggesting hostility to nudity, posted an astonishing thirty five comments in just fifty minutes. The comments, as you will see, portray an incredible mental mixture of lustful leering, misogyny, homophobia, authoritarianism, body judgment, and good old-fashioned crudity, all delivered in that sharp-elbow-to-the-ribs fake-jocularity style that’s designed to allow the speaker to retreat into “hey, I was just joking” at the first sign of criticism.
Silently deleting this fluxus would have been the normal moderation response, but it just seemed wrong, somehow, to do so. The comment set, taken together, feels like an an accidentally artistic artifact, an unselfconscious self-portrait of some widely-known but rarely-photographed internet beast.
Accordingly, the comment set is below the cut. These comments will not appear on their respective posts, because such material is a sort of sludge that not only contaminates what it comments on, but also tends to invite copycat commenting from likeminded others. And now, today’s zoological exhibit:
This panel is from a Dirty Duck comic strip:
A reader emailed me the following photo, sans info:
PetaEurope had the story:
It’s almost Mother’s Day! So PETA thought it the perfect opportunity to get people talking about what happens to mothers all over the world… pig mothers, that is. Today in Covent Garden as shoppers dashed around for gifts for their mothers, PETA’s very pregnant Noemie stripped, got down on all fours and knelt in a replica farrowing crate with the banner ‘Unhappy Mother’s Day for Pigs, Go Vegetarian.’
Would it be unseemly to make an appreciative “shakin’ that bacon” comment?
I don’t understand everything I see at this link, where there are many more photos. But this particular photo, of a bare-breasted woman standing in front of a Church Of Scientology building, carrying a “Get A Real Phoney Religion!” sign, and concealing her face with a V For Vendetta mask, meets any reasonable definition of a naked protest:
Thanks to the alert reader who emailed me the link.
Update: Here’s an article from Radar Magazine which may help explain what’s going on with respect to this protest.
It’s hard for someone not from there to understand all the nuances, but politics in Russia haven’t been looking good lately, from the perspective of freedom-loving folks. As a grim ex-KGB bureaucrat solidifies authoritarian rule, and democratic opposition is systematically dismantled and destroyed, it’s my “impression from afar” that the grey old men are returning, knouts in hand and vengeance firmly in mind.
Certainly the recent election offered little promise for hope. As near as I could tell, they were a sham designed to install a puppet, who would rule at Putin’s pleasure and in his stead. That certainly seems to be the viewpoint of these folks:
I guess maybe this is the twenty-first century equivalent of the twentieth centuries’ love-ins: a “fuck-in” protest by the fucked? Izo has the context:
To mark the presidential elections, on 29 February the group War staged a “mass fuck” (массовая ебля) entitled Fuck for the Teddy-Bear Heir (Ебись за наследника Медвежонка!) in (appropriately enough, maybe) the Biological Museum in Moscow.
Update: Many more pictures here.

From 2005, here’s a protester baring her breasts during a trip by Prince Charles to Wellington, New Zealand. Looks like the writing on her boobs says “Get your shame off my breasts”, which would make her a nudity activist I’m guessing:
Prince Charles, naturally, hides his head.
Via Bondage Blog we get this context-less photograph of some gagged anti-war protesters:
I don’t know my Commonwealth flags, but I’m pretty sure that’s one of them printed on the gags.
The body language doesn’t look quite right for a political naked protest, but there’s got to be some sort of outrage that leads to standing on the top of a pay telephone with no pants on, long enough for four cops to arrive:
The best I can do to explain these Mexican naked protesters is to quote from the email that provided me with the photos:
In Mexico, there are a group of people that protests because their lands was robbery for a politician. This group is called “The 400 towns” (Los 400 pueblos). For this people is difficult to do this type of protests, because they are native people of the country, and their ideas are very conservatives.
Here’s a protest against insane definitions of “fat”, captured by photographer Jordan Matter:
Caption is:
I had a meeting with a casting director from LA. Without a glance at my headshot or resume, and not even a decent introduction, this stranger looks at me, all 5 feet and 2 inches, 125 pounds of me and says, “You need to lose twenty or gain thirty because where you are right now, I can’t do anything with you.” A bit thrown, but not wanting to be rude, I ask, “Can you elaborate on that?” To which she replied, “Your face says ingenue but it wouldn’t quite work, and I can’t put you as fat best friend because you’re not *exactly* fat.” — Katy, Broadway

Pooja’s semi nude protest walk lands on porn site
AHMEDABAD, India: Pooja Chauhan’s semi nude protest walk on Rajkot roads not only grabbed international media headlines and the city police commissioner’s attention, but also placed her where she might never have wished — on a porn website.
Pooja took to the streets in her underwear in July protesting against police inaction in arresting her husband and in-laws.
She had alleged that police had refused to register her complaint of harassment by her husband and parents in-law including dowry demand.
Pooja married Pratapsinh Chauhan after their brief love affair. But her nightmare began soon after their marriage. Pooja also tried to immolate her self before the Rajkot police station.
Director of Society for Women’s Action and Training Initiative (Swati) Poonam Kathuria attributes Pooja’s clipping on a pornographic website to some ‘pervert’.
“It is demeaning for every woman. All she did was protest against the harassment she went through. To put her on a pornographic website is perversion of her protest.” Kathuria told DNA.
Chauhan’s family members were not available for comment. Her semi-nude clipping posted on the web site is taken from a television clipping.
Sources say that the clipping was initially circulated as a multi-media message (MMS) and later posted on the site as ‘Pooja Chauhan MMS’.

Via Ananova comes this completely undated story of protesting naked coeds. Cute and female equals win!
The story:
Students in Chile have staged a naked protest against poor quality education.
A group of 25 college students in Valparaiso stripped off in the main Sotomayor Square, Las Ultimas Noticias reports.
The students painted their bodies with protest slogans and said they wanted to make public their complaints about bad schooling in the region.
We’ve slacked off on our PETA coverage since they started wearing body suits to their “naked” protests, but every now and then a few of their activists recall the honest roots of the concept, as in this protest against the Beefeaters:
BBC photo caption: “Animal welfare activists stage a naked protest against bearskin hats worn by guards at Buckingham Palace.”
The bear masks give this protest a nice “furry” / cosplay vibe, although the protesters themselves seem to have shed their own fur in sympathy with the bears.
I’m not sure what’s going on here, but it looks like some sort of European firemen who are shucking their jackets and mooning the crowd. Possibly a public employee’s strike?
These PETA tiger-girls-in-cages pictures never get old:
This one features PETA activist Jabeen Akhtar, in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 7, 2006, to protest the circus coming to town.
As part of this site’s continuing homage to Lady Godiva, the patroness of all naked protesters, here’s the Bare Lady as envisaged by Dr. Suess:
Funny, if you think fake nudity is funny. Here’s a long video showing a PETA “naked” protest — two female activists lying in coffins to spread awareness of bird flu. Interesting video in that it shows them setting up, something you don’t usually see. Here’s one of the girls sitting up in her coffin:
And waving for the camera, a bit of “boob” showing:
Then we see her sister activist getting set up, wrapped in a bathrobe and taking elaborate care to slide the robe off while getting the sign and the flowers set up to protect her “nakedness”:
Only, uh oh, all that elaborate modesty? It’s a fraud. She forgot that cameras have zooms these days, and a quick zoom in reveals her flesh-colored tank top:
Look, it’s no secret that PETA’s naked protesters usually wear flesh-colored garments. But in that case, why the blushing virgin act?
Here we see some cops handing a naked anti-fur protester over a fence. She appears to be handcuffed, which would explain why her arms aren’t up in an effort to break that cop’s painful squeeze grip on her right breast:
Over on Bondage Blog we found this picture of a half-naked PETA activist in chains, presumably to protest the shackling of circus animals:
From here, via World Sex News:
ORLANDO, Florida – An appeals court has ruled that women can demonstrate topless as part of a legitimate political protest, striking down the arrest of a woman who has repeatedly flouted laws banning women from publicly going bare breasted.
The Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Appeals on Oct. 5 upheld a county judge’s opinion that Elizabeth Book could protest topless on the city’s Main Street Bridge.
Book was arrested by Daytona Beach police and fined $253 during Bike Week in March 2004. The city said she violated an ordinance banning public nudity that was passed in 2002 to curb indecency at special events.
The email forwarding this photo says it appeared in the Daily Californian, so it’s presumably yet another Berkeley protest. Grievance unknown, but the girls are pretty, and the clear plastic some of them are wearing is a bonus for shrink wrap fetishists:
Here’s a photo from a 2004 anti-Bush protest in Berkeley, California:
From the Daily Californian:
Eight local activists displayed their lighter sides yesterday, marching in the nude down Telegraph Avenue to express their distaste for the current presidential administration.
The 13th annual “Nude and Breast Freedom Parade,” organized by the X-plicit Players of Berkeley, marched under the theme “Get Your Bush Out to Get Bush Out.”
Only speculating here, but this could be a protest to protect community gardens, or perhaps against suburban landscaping water rationing?
This, presumably, is more college hijinks than protest, but whenever the lady’s crew team takes off their shirts, it makes a worthy photo:
Not naked, but pretty and salacious enough to make the cut:
Thanks to Functional Ambivalent for alerting us to this naked protest at a U.S. college, against — wait for it — clothing manufacture:
This image was emailed by Jelle (thanks, Jelle!) with the following explanation:
This picture was published in almost every Belgian newspaper. I have scanned it from the frontpage of “De Standaard” of We 29th of march 2006.
The picture shows a French teacher (!!) participating in the protests against the CPE (Contrait de Première Embauche), a law which would make it easy for companies to hire and fire young people.
It’s unclear what’s being protested here, but this is clearly a big ole hairy protest moon if ever there was one:
A long time ago we linked to these very pretty young ladies carrying an obscure banner. Here they are again — with more friends — carrying a different (PETA) banner:
So happy to see them again.
Here’s a bit of fantasy protester art — it looks like some sort of anti-male protester is getting a spanking right there in the street:
From The Collar Purple.
These protesters actually put their breasts where their protest is:
I can’t say exactly what’s going on here, but there’s got to be some sort of “stick it to the man” sentiment behind posing nude outside the courthouse in front of a police cruiser:
Picture is from a collection of exhibitionist images on UseNet.
Another emailed photo without context, although the emailer suggested the picture had something to do with the 2004 Republican convention:
Hey! Geeky person! You are the antithesis of everything Naked Protesters stands for!
I don’t know where this is, or what these lovely ladies are marching for. But they sure do seem to be having fun!
I’m thinking #2 from the right should have plenty! In a change of pace from naked cyclists, here’s a protest against dairy products from animals fed GM foods:
June 6, 2005, London, per Indymedia. Thanks to Jo Jo for the link!
The photos from the World Naked Bike Ride keep trickling in, this time from London. I particularly appreciate correspondents like Chipsilver, who send me photos they took themselves. Thanks, Chip!
From a Berkely protest chronicled at Breasts Not Bombs, we get a big naked “War Is Indecent” sentiment, plus a lot more nudity than usual.
It’s beginning to look like the nudity factor at these events is going up. Flesh colored undies won’t get you on TV any more….
Here’s a nude Vancouver lady pumping hard at the pedals during the 2005 World Naked Bike Ride in June:
From this Flikr photoset of the Ride — thanks to Trev for the link!
Here’s a different sort of naked protest for you:
Details are unclear, but the basic sentiment comes right through.
It seems that yesterday was the date for World Naked Bike Ride 2005. The first photos are trickling in (thanks Bryan!) and this one (from Yahoo) shows some naked cyclists in Spain:
I expect to see many more good pictures over the next few days — please don’t hesitate to email me with pertinent links!
Christina Cho protests in Seoul, part of the endless parade of anti-fur activism:
Another emailed photo with no attribution, although from the slogan it looks like another PETA action. Two full sets of bare breasts make this one better than most:
You know, if more women really did go naked without fur, the fur industry would be even deader than it already is.
According to DC Indymedia, the lady is Joan Roney, and she streaked through the crowd while the president was being sworn in:
According to ErosBlog, this lovely breast was exposed in protest by Miss Bulgaria 2001, in a protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Sophia, Bulgaria:
Here’s another picture from the 2004 Republican convention, showing one of the naked protesters in handcuffs while getting arrested:
Naked protesters in bondage, baby!
Obviously an anti-war protest. Points off for pasties covering the nipples, but she’s pretty enough to show anyway:
Emailed anonymously to me, so I don’t know details of the protest.
This picture was emailed to me with the following info:
The attached photo was taken at a student protest rally on March 26 2004 in Amsterdam Holland. The girl in the picture undressed right in the middle of the crowd in the heart of the city (and made the national TV news). The students protested against government plans to limit the access to universities.
And here she is:
This actually makes more logical sense than many naked protests: a group of folk in Chicago protesting against Eddie Bauer, a clothing manufacturer.
You can get your details from Boing Boing where I found the link. The picture is from NanoBot (where you’ll find more details and another pic).
Here’s another photo from the inexhaustible genre of cute naked PETA protesters. This one is cuter than most — and with that move, she looks more like a cheerleader than a protester, no?
Unfortunately, this one came to me via alt.binaries.images.outdoor.erotica, so I don’t have a name or a newspaper story or the specifics of the protest date and location.
Here’s another graphic of our Patroness, Lady Godiva. Only this time, she’s upgraded the horse for a Vespa scooter:
Another in the line of interesting not-naked protest pics that have been creeping onto this page ever since the beginning. Provocative self-bondage is a protest tradition that seems to share common philosophical ground with naked protesting, and is almost equally satisfying to the voyeuristic impulse. This photograph is from the protests surrounding the Republican Convention last year, as previously mentioned:
A great pose and an awesome picture, from BaseTree.
This picture (from this page dated August 2004) suggests much but explains little. Military units used against civilian populations (as “anti-terrorist” units generally are) are notorious for abuses, so one presumes that’s the story here:
The caption reads: “A group of Indian women shed their clothes and protest outside the Indian Army Assam Rifles anti-terrorism unit barracks in Imphal, Manipur.”
Lest anyone forget Lady Godiva, the patroness saint of naked protesters, here’s a book cover with entertaining artwork:
Ride on!
Looks like a sit-in, and these look more like protester gags than any sort of bondage game. Unfortunately this is one of those pictures that comes without any context:
Pretty girls with their mouths taped shut — what’s not to like?
This apparently has something to do with protest against the Austrian government:
Thanks to Indie Nudes for the link.
Here are some bicyclists in New Zealand who disapprove of oil companies and their customers:
Police ordered naked cyclists to get their gear back on in Auckland yesterday, after arresting their leader for alleged indecent exposure.
Even so, motorists were treated to a “21-bum” salute, equating to the number of scantily-clad but helmeted cyclists who rode from Symonds St to Karangahape Rd to protest against the world’s dependency on oil-fuelled transport.
Here’s a picture taken from this report of the June 2003 anti-WTO protests:
Caption: “Naked protesters in Sacramento don mud to appeal to the
gentler side of the police and those the police served at WTO.”
Not naked, not necessarily a protest, but Bondage Blog has a nice photo of a woman getting arrested by the riot police.
I don’t know much about these protest photographs, except that they feature more and prettier public nudity than is usual for the genre. They come from here, are dated July 22, 2004, and include the limited explanation that the protest took place in “Ashland” (Oregon?) “against antigentalia law”. Anybody have more details, or more photos?
Apparently the nude parade down Telegraph isn’t all that common. Here’s an account of a September 19 “How Berkeley Can You Be?” parade that includes this naked sentiment:
Thanks to Shell for the link.
The Daily Californian reports on a September 26 naked parade in Berkeley, that looked sorta like this:
Here’s what was up:
Eight local activists displayed their lighter sides yesterday, marching in the nude down Telegraph Avenue to express their distaste for the current presidential administration. The 13th annual “Nude and Breast Freedom Parade,” organized by the X-plicit Players of Berkeley, marched under the theme “Get Your Bush Out to Get Bush Out.”
Led by activist and Berkeley resident Debbie Moore, the eight members present for the parade walked down Telegraph, staying mostly between Dwight Way and Haste Street, singing and marching in their birthday suits in the name of peace and human connection.
Why New York is different from San Francisco, as observed by Babs: “The presence of naked protesters appears to be kind of a big deal here.”
Yahoo News provides this photo of protesters in Manila — protesting, apparently, a crackdown on men without shirts:
Thanks to Dr. Menlo for the link.
News Flash! I noticed a zillion more search engine hits from people searching for naked protesters. Sure enough, there was a naked protest today in New York. Google it yourself for details, but don’t bother with the U.S. news outlets. One of them was showing coy photographs of ankles and feet, inside of dropped trousers. Fortunately, I found an overseas news site with this picture (no link, because it’s registration only):
The caption: “Naked activists protest outside Madison Square Garden, where the Republican National Convention is to be held next week.”
Here’s a couple of naked protesters in the Hague in 2002. Apparently they were exercised over a Spanish water development project, according to this story.
Photographer Sean Rivinus has two nice pictures of a nude PETA girl here. These are considerably more entertaining than the usual news photos, which tend to be coy in how they arrange the shot.
Daze Reader reports:
In Ashland, Oregon, a group played naked croquet on the municipal building lawn to protest a new city ordinance prohibiting nudity in public parks.
We want pictures!
Without further ado:
This picture came with the following caption:
Demonstrators strip to protest the corporate practices of the Gap clothing company, in downtown Calgary June 25, 2002 prior to the G8 summit that began June 26 in Kananaskis. The letters on the buttocks spell ‘Boycott Gap!’ The demonstrators claim the Gap is exploiting the poor in over 300 sweatshops in 55 third-world countries to make their clothes.
Not nude, but doing their second-best to draw attention to their cause:
Thanks to an alert reader for spotting this picture amidst the porn links at Pretty Tight Pussy.
The World Naked Bike Ride
on June 12, 2004 was a huge success. Here are a couple of the nicer pictures. This first one is from Apeldoorn in the Netherlands:
In Seattle there was body paint, and cooling off after the event in a handy fountain:
Here’s a pretty picture of some lovely young university women (and some guys, too) kneeling nude in the sunshine:
Picture comes from The Sunday Times of South Africa and is captioned:
Nude students from the Santiago de Compostela University stage a protest in city’s streets on Tuesday, 11 December 2001, against the Spanish University Reform Law.
Here are a couple of nice pictures from the struggle for public nudity in Australia, courtesy of Freedom International. This first one comes from Melbourne in January of 2002, showing five men (“Very Impressive”, Stuart Kingsford, Rollan McCleary, Tony Pitman and Keith Stodden) going for a nude swim at Port Melbourne’s Sandridge Beach. “The men’s act of civil disobedience served as a protest against the fact that public nudity is a crime in the state of Victoria and they called on the Victorian government to reform this outdated and unjust law.”
The next one shows Tony Pitman in Melbourne’s Fitzroy Gardens, staging “a one-man nude protest for the legalisation of public nudity” in February 2001.
Here’s a news story and photo mailed in by Bob (thanks, Bob!) of a naked protester at a recent pro-choice rally in Washington, D.C.:
Captioned: “A semi-topless Iris Dickerson holds a sign as hundreds of thousands of protesters rallied on the National Mall April 25, 2004 to show support for abortion rights and opposition to Bush administration policies on women’s reproductive health issues.”
Here’s an NZ celebrity of some sort naked in a good cause. Alas, these pictures didn’t come with an explanation of what the good cause was, although we suspect these are more pictures from National Penis Day:
This looks more festival than protest, but it’s too much fun not to include:
Presumably the usual Japanese oddness. Thanks to Amanda for emailing the link.
Here’s a scribble of artwork in honor of the Naked Protester patroness (herself an avant-garde naked protester). The lovely Lady Godiva:
Artist unknown.
A sentiment firmly in line with the editorial policy of this website. So why, pretty maid, aren’t they showing?
According to the person who kindly emailed this photo, it was taken at the “Global Day of Action” rally in San Francisco on Saturday, March 20th, 2004.
As you know we sometimes show fully clothed protesters if they have displayed themselves in some entertaining fashion. Here are some ladies who have gagged themselves in protest against a production of the Vagina Monologues because women of “a variety of skin colors, body sizes, abilities and gender expressions” were not adequately represented:
Seems to me these ladies could have taken a good first step toward solving the problem they were complaining about, if only they had protested naked. No?
The Oregon Daily Emerald has the whole story.
OK, here’s a naked protest unlike any other:
“During the last week there has been a boom of actions in Stockholm that has put light into the untenable situation of the homeless people. Among other things occupations and different kind of manifestations, and performances. The latest one was when a love couple made love freely on the Sergels plaza in the absolute centre of the town to remind that homeless people do have a sex life.
The police interfered after about 1 1/2 hour without any further explanations and drove the playful love couple to the social jour so that they there could get some help with a place for their loveplay.
Everyone involved were glad and smiled.”
Of course you are waiting for the pictures:
James sends along this link and writes:
National Penis Day in New Zealand last September [’03] was organized by a TV
presenter called Alex Behan (I think he is the guy with the megaphone) in
protest over health adverts which were banned from showing male genitals. These are clothes optional martyrs who shall go straight to naked Valhalla!
It looks like a lot of fun:
Thanks, James!
From Nudist News and kindly forwarded by Dr. Menlo, more naked PETA goodness. First, an objection to Colonel Sanders’ best Kentucky Fried Chicken:
“KFC Stop Torturing Chicks!”
Next, a lovely Parisian anti-fur Valentine:
Looks like this guy is taking off his shoes to be completely naked:
Alas, as happens all too often, no details.
Once again, no back story to go with this picture, but these girls have put tape on their mouths and they are holding their wrists out for the cuffs. If this isn’t a protest, I’ll eat my metaphorical hat:
The picture comes from EZ Bondage; Blogtied: The Bondage Blog found the link.
Here’s another crew of naked PETA people hiding behind their banner. I’m still not clear on this, what’s the point of getting naked and then getting coy?
Thanks to Shell at Across the Atlantic for sending along the link.
This photograph from Murdoch Environmental Green Action is a little light on nudity (those fig leaves are such a cop-out) but the heavy equipment and the armed cops add enough drama to make this a classic of its kind.
The web page dates from March 2001 and the photograph is captioned simply: “Nude protesters halt clearing of Dalyellup Tuart forest”.
Lady Godiva being the patron saint of all nude protesters, I cannot resist posting this bit of art even though I don’t have an artist credit for it. If anybody can help with that, I’ll be in your debt.
Here’s a scene from what the BBC described as an anti-capitalist demonstration at London’s Oxford Circus on May Day, 2001:
Captioned: “Rain and Cold Did Not Deter Protesters”
Here’s an indoor shot of naked protesters “rehearsing” for the “No GM Ambush” on November 16, 2003, in Parliament Square, London:
Larger version here, courtesy of Bare Witness.
Here are some photos of the lovely Carla Santos, a 21-year-old cutie who (on May 24th, 2001) went streaking around the National Congress building in Brasilia to protest against the president of Brazil:
The magazine Brazzil has the whole story:
Carla Santos, 21, the president of Ubes (Uni o Brasileira de Estudantes Brazilian Union of Students) went a step further: she left all her clothes on the lawn facing the Congress and, naked, entered a moat built around the congress with the purpose to avoid that demonstrations got too close to the building. She sang the national anthem, shouted slogans against the President, and ran on the lawn. Over Carla’s naked body, there were short protest messages like CPI (Parliamentary Committee Enquiry) and Out FHC, which is an abbreviation for Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Bottomless, she semicovered her breasts with a Ubes’s flag. Her exposition lasted close to 30 minutes.
There are some excellent nude photos (and video!) from the World Social Forum in Brazil in January of 2003. Indymedia has the story, which it characterizes as a nude protest against police brutality:
Police did what police do best when they violently attacked protesters and bystanders on the last day of the World Social Forum. It started when a Mapuche woman who was attending the WSF and staying at the international youth camp was arrested with charges of “obscene acts” for bathing nude in a river. Activists saw this and organized over 400 people to protest by nonviolently taking their clothes off in solidarity. When the nude protest left the youth camp to march downtown the police attacked. After injuring and arresting some of the the nude protesters the police lashed out at journalists and bystanders. An unknown number of people were hospitalized or arrested as a result of the police assault.
Here are some of the naked protesters:
That may have been a protest, but it also looks like one heck of a party.
Here’s a picture of Vincent Bethell, the so-called “naked nutter” who gave the London cops such a merry time of it back in the late 1990s:
Here’s a cute naked vegan whose St. Paddy’s Day blarney seems not to be impressing the stalwart policemen of Chicago:
Possibly it’s because veganism isn’t popular in the erstwhile “Stockyards of America?”
It’s not nude, but doesn’t the bondage angle add a sufficient prurient element? Here are some earnest Green Peace girls gagged:
Thanks to Bondage Blog for the picture.
Thanks to an alert reader for pointing me to this Yahoo News coverage of a recent nude protest against genetically modified foods:
From the Yahoo caption: “Naked protesters from the campaign group Barewitness.org, go to perform a protest against genetically modified foods, in Parliament Square, London, Sunday Nov. 16, 2003, prior to the visit of U.S. President George Bush next week.”
A nice diversity of body types and pretty smiles here. Again, as is all too common, I don’t have any data on who the protesters are or exactly what they want.
Here are a couple of ladies who are unclear on this whole naked protest concept. “We shaved our pubic hair. Read our lips. No more Bush.” On a sign?
C’mon, you expect us to believe that? Talk about half measures! Lame….
The always-reliable and frequently-pretty PETA girls are at it again, this time stripping down and chaining up in sympathy with the logging elephants of Thailand.
But wouldn’t this protest be more effective (not to mention more visually interesting) if she took this outfit outside and wore it while dragging a teak log down the street on the end of a chain?
Unfortunately, this is another picture without context. There’s obviously a protest going on, but more than that, we do not know:
However, more naked protesters should be as pretty as this!
According to this link, the London protests were supposed to include mass moonings of President Bush. Did it happen? Does anybody have pictures? C’mon, the world waits!
Thanks to Shell for sending along the link.
Another picture lacking in backstory. This cute lady has the look of a celebrity about her, and if you study the image she’s sitting in a car on a public street. This looks to me like one of those “appear in public with our mouths taped shut to protest the censorship of fill-in-the-blank” scenarios:
Thanks to Bondage Blog for the photo. By now you know the drill, write in if you know the story behind the picture!
No background for this picture, alas, although the URL on the nude guy’s back appears to be for the PETA spinoff vegan site goveg.com:
Anybody know date and place and details?
Pieter from South Africa writes to let us know that this picture is, as suspected, not real. He says it’s from a South African movie made by Leon Schuster – the beggar on the left in the picture. Thanks Pieter for the straight dope!
Here’s a photo which makes up for its lack of nudity by its earthy message: “Bombing for Peace is Like Fucking For Virginity.”
The picture has a certain staged artistry about it, but it’s amusing for all that.
Presumably from the same protest as this photo, we have two lovely nude British ladies in body paint that looks like fetching riding costumes:
Thanks to Power Line for the photo.
We are deeply indebted to Bas, who very kindly sent along these photographs he took of anti-fur protesters in Antwerp, Belgium. Bas reports that he took the photos on October 4, 2003. These attractive folks were shouting “Liever naakt dan in bond!” which means “I prefer naked over fur!”
Bas, thanks ever so much for sharing your pictures!
Here’s a picture of some anti World Trade Organization protesters who stripped naked, poured fake blood on themselves, and cavorted on American flags. According to this article, the event took place in Sydney, Australia, in 2002. The lovely young ladies in question are identified as Anna Clark (19), Amy Minshull (22), and Anne-Lise Ahfat (18).
Has anybody got a bigger better picture of this event? I’m sure the readership would enjoy a closer look at these girls.
Obviously NakedProtesters.com does not agree with many of the sentiments in the letter that follows. In our view sexuality is in the eye of the beholder. If someone shares their nudity with the world in an effort to get attention, they can’t complain when the observers say “Hey, that’s sexy!” (Or rather, they can complain, being free people; but they should expect to be laughed at for it.) Furthermore, we utterly reject the suggestion that nudity, or celebration of it in any form, including this one, is degrading to anyone or encourages “rape and other forms of criminal behavior.”
Having said all that, here’s a letter we recently got:
I checked out your web-page as I am a subscriber to the Bodyfreedom.org newsgroup. As I am interested in helping social and public nudity gain some social credibility, I do not feel that having links to commercial porn sites gives you the right idea about nude demonstrations.
Most social activists (particularly the women), although they are not prudes or anti-sex, do not like pornography as they feel that it is degrading to men and women as well as encouraging rape and other forms of criminal behaviour.
Bodyfreedom is about helping to restructure social and political attitudes to help create a more understanding, just, and honest human race.
It is not about promoting sexual vilification or promiscuous sex, and we have a hard enough time trying to convince people that naturism and public nude recreation is not a perverted practice and is not about sex except in appropriate settings.
Regards, Dario Western (Larrikin70)
PETA is at it again – this time with some hunky guys for your ogling pleasure. Sorry ladies, no full monty pictures seem to be available. Will someone please tell these naked protesters that hiding behind their banners spoils the effect?
These respectful gentlemen include Hungarian Zsolt Kopre, and they are shown protesting in London outside Buckingham Palace, in late October 2003. They object, it seems, to the bearskin hats of the Queen’s Guard.
Shell from Across the Atlantic very kindly wrote in with more information about the Chilean naked protester being hauled off by the lady cops in this picture. She blogged it even before Bacchus did, but the post alas did not survive when she merged her blog with The Group Captain’s. She confirms the Chilean connection reported here and adds that the Chilean protestors had a permit to protest the Iraq war in a park. Of course they could not contain their enthusiasm within park boundaries, so when they decided to take their show on the road, they were arrested. Shell’s original blog post title: “Keep Your Naked Asses In The Park.” Thanks, Shell!
I don’t know if this photo is real. It came without context and the faces look as if they may have been uncharitably photoshopped. But if the photo is real, it’s naked protest of a sort:
Update: It’s from a movie.
Here’s an older one, from San Francisco in 1999. A bunch of folks went for a naked stroll down Van Ness. The Chronicle said they were trying to raise consciousness about Y2K issues, but they are quoted as chanting classic anti-nuke chants. Possibly, as often happens in San Francisco, the protest was the only thing the protesters all had in common. Anyway, here’s a shot of the naked streets:
Thanks to Naked For Peace for the picture and the details.
Here we have the Women of the Brisbane Neighbors for Peace and Justice showing flesh for “peace and justice for all members of the human family”.
The picture was taken on San Bruno Mountain in San Mateo, California. This page at Bare Witness explains it all.
This photo was taken during an anti-war protest in Santiago, Chili. This news story here explains these hairy male asses:
The annual naked protesting of the running of the bulls at Pamplona. This year:
This news story provides context and a caption: “A PETA activist has her say during the protest in Pamplona.”
Last year was fun too:
Thanks to these folks for the story (plus they have more pics and info.)
Here’s an anti-globalization protester with cute buns:
Found at BodyFreedom.Org, which reports that the original news caption for this photo was as follows: “Two nude female anti-G8 protesters, one with a slogan painted on her back, take to the streets in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Saturday, May 31, 2003.”
Here’s a classic image from the long-running PETA campaign against fur. The lovely Lisa Franzetta shares her tawny flanks with us from the electronic pages of SFGate.com:
Nude women in cages on the public streets, what’s not to like?
From Doctor Menlo (alas, the permalink is kerflunkt) comes this pretty lady with a message for Herr Ashcroft: “Read my lips! No Drug War!”
Doesn’t she have an infectious smile?
Although this blog will endeavor to remain more or less neutral on the underlying causes which inspire all the nudity herein (although we retain the right to laugh at silly people, even attractive naked ones), one cannot ignore the fact that nudity-inspiring causes are often progressive. Thus, there is a refreshing novelty to the sight of a little conservative flesh, especially when it’s as pretty as this:
These ladies from the Caerphilly Hunt are in town and representing for traditional British fox hunting rural values! Or so it would appear from the picture.
Thanks to no lesser a worthy than Instapundit for the link.
Here’s a protest that looks amazingly similar to a vacation:
From the Yahoo News caption: “Naked protesters spell out ‘No WTO’ in the sand with their bodies during a protest against the upcoming ministerial World Trade Organization Meeting in Cancun, September 8, 2003.”
We would like to make this the authoritative central repository of outraged and committed public nudity. You can help!
We have lots of historical naked protester pictures to post here, and more turn up with every Google search. So we don’t really need pointers to those, unless you have a special favorite. What we do need is help spotting the new ones as they come up. This is particularly vital because a lot of news organizations run photos like this only briefly, and remove them at the first complaint. So if you see a current news story on naked protesters, please send the link – and if you can, save and attach the photo in case it’s gone by the time we get to it.
Also, if you see a picture here that doesn’t identify the cause or the activist shown, and you know who, what, or why – by all means please send along that info. These people got naked for us, they deserve all the exposure we can give them!
Finally, be aware that to protect your privacy, you’ll be credited as “a reader” or by your first name only (if you give one). If you’d prefer the use of a full name or handle, or would like your “Thanks to” credit linked to a website, please be sure to say so!
I’ve liked this picture ever since I first saw it on Erosblog. The Yahoo news story where it originally appeared is long gone, so the cause in which this lady got nude is forgotten, but what we have here is a female naked protester getting arrested and hauled away by a matched set of five uniformed policewomen:
Hello everyone, and welcome to Naked Protesters! All over the world, people are getting naked to get attention and to promote their causes. The purpose of this blog is to give them a little bit more of the attention they so obviously crave. We here at Naked Protesters don’t propose to judge the causes being promoted; rather, we see it as our job to celebrate the flesh that gets exposed in the process. Nudity is beautiful, folks, and these activists are freely baring and sharing it with us all. Here’s to them!
